Sailor Moon Crystal Black Moon Arc Limited Edition

Hi cutie pies! It's been a minute since I've posted anything new on here. I got the Sailor moon Crystal Blu-ray limited edition a while ago and thought I would review it for you.

Limited Edition Collector’s Box

Special Features
  • DVD & Blu-ray Combo Pack
  • Limited Edition Collector’s Box
  • Interview + Art gallery
  • Art Cards
  • Art Booklet
  • Textless Opening & Closing

I really love this box design.  Just like the last collector's box we have a  white background with gold details. The golden foil is sparkly and is still my favourite part of the packaging.  The only one is that Viz used the Cosmic Heart Compact on the box and booklet cover. I know that they were being faithful to the Japanese  limited edition cover. However, it would have been nice to go with the Japanese volumes 9 cover as that volume features the Crystal Star Compact.

The back cover design is also very pretty. It features both Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibimoon on the back. There's also screen caps of some of the episodes and with what extras are included. This is just a insert and is removal.

DVD & Blu-ray Combo Pack

To be honest, I never really understood the purpose of a Blu-Ray/DVD combo. If you had a Blu-Ray player, chances are you wouldn’t watch this on DVD. The video quality is just so much better on Blu-Ray, it’s time to make the switch if you haven’t already ;)
I would’ve preferred a Blu-Ray only Limited Edition, and save on costs from the DVD to improve the box quality instead. Fans aren’t buying the combo pack to have it on DVD and Blu-Ray, they want the bonus materials. The 2 DVD discs seems a bit wasteful as I would never use them… but that’s just me. This is probably awesome for fans who only have DVD players and wish to get a hold of all the bonus goodies.
There are 4 discs in total; 2 DVD and 2 Blu-Ray discs, each containing 7 episodes per disc. Considering the Japanese releases have 2 episodes per volume, this sure is a sweet deal.

Art Cards

There are 7 pretty art cards (the same size as the box), featuring art used in the Japanese release. These are from the  6 remaining volumes. These are double-sided. Some of my favorite artwork is in the set of art cards. They are very good quality cards and the images are crisp and very high quality.

Art Booklet

Included is a thick 96 paged art booklet containing profile pages, episode summeries, character design sheets, English cast interviews and story boards. These are nice touches and give us a glimpse of what was included in the Japanese release of season 1 and 2.

Menu Screens

Upon loading the Blu-Ray disc, I am still loving the montion menus! I love the music it's just a beautiful. For the DVDs  there will be this art with no music. As for extras it's just trailers from Viz Media.

Conclusion

All in all, this is a very exciting time. We’re finally getting Sailor Moon Crystal on Blu-Ray :D! Despite a few complaints, this would be a delightful addition to any fan’s collection. The packaging looks really nice, especially the golden foil on the box. I like the inclusion of the art cards and the booklet. I'm very much looking forward to getting Sailor Moon Crystal season 3 Limited Edition.
Thank you for reading and I hope you found my review helpful.

After a one and a half year wait since Sailor Moon Part 1, Sailor Moon S part 1 is finally here!! :D This is my review of Madman’s Australian and New Zealand release, which contains Viz Media’s new English dub along with the original Japanese audio. This is the 5th volume of the set and contains 19 episodes on 3 discs. Only 5 volumes to go until we get to end of the series!

Sailor Moon S is my second favourite season (just behind Sailor Stars) and introduces two new outer senshi Sailor Uranus & Sailor Neptune. The popularity of the third season is largely due to this pair, and it’s not hard to see why. THEY ARE JUST. SO. COOL. And ruthless. They also happen to be lovers. What makes this release special is that we finally have an English uncut version that aims to preserve the integrity of the original Japanese scripts. They are no longer “Cousins. This release is long overdue, don’t you think? ;)

Look at the beautiful design & packaging!😍 Its very pretty and it's a nice change from all the pink from the previous two sets. The disks are nice too. This reminds me so much of the blue box sets from ADV and Pioneer/Genon when they released S and Super S on DVD back in the 2000s.

Booklet

This limited edition release also comes with a thin booklet, containing some character profiles. There are no episodes guides like the US version (which has 96 pages)

DVD Menus

The menus are pretty basic with the theme song playing in the background I do however like the art.

Screenshots

The video quality looks pretty good :D Check out these screenshots!

All in all, this new box set is everything we’ve come to expect from Madman’s Sailor Moon releases. The design and packaging are really pretty. I'm happy with the video quality overall.

My Sailor Moon Collecting Journey+ story!!!

It's been a while you guys! Over the last several months I have gotten a ton of questions about collecting writing a Sailor Moon collecting post. I decided to go for it.

Some of my background in regards to collecting and probably a story.

I've been collecting Sailor Moon on and off since I was seven so like 2001.  I received a few VHS tapes, a few Irwin dolls, and DVDs as a young child. I also got the opportunity to travel to Australia as a child. I've been to Australia a total of three times through my childhood and teen years. I scored merch almoust every time I had gone. There was a store in Melbourne called SF Anime Shop. Most of my international items are from there. The last time I went was August 2008. Yes during that trip I had scored some awesome merch. That store has since closed down. Fast forward to late 2010 I was a senior in high school and decided to start collect again.  All this new merch from Italy was comimg out like the dolls, magazines and a new Moon Stick. I felt like a little kid again when I heard all the news and where I could order it from. I might have gone slightly crazy when I saw pics of all the new items. My parents bought me lots when Sailor Moon was first released here. But when we had made a move to a new home I had lost a couple things.  My mom especially loved the series and would watch it with me. She bought me merch pretty much every Friday when we would go to the mall.  My dad was also very supportive of my love for that series. I felt I related so much to each them. I always felt I didn't "fit in" or belonged as a child. The only thing that made me feel like I belonged was this show and I owe this series so much. I went on to College now I'm looking into becoming a  primary school teacher.  All great stuff!! But back to the collecting. So in early 2011 I believe late January A package was at my house. I thought nothing of it until my parents told me to open it. I looked at them very puzzled.  I had no idea what they were even talking about. But when I opened it there was pretty much all of the 2011 Italy merch I got all two 10" dolls (Moon and Venus), magazines and the moonstick. It was an early birthday gift from both of my parents. A few months later I had received gifts from my best friend who had gone to Italy for her spring break and she brought me back some things from this trip the gift bag was so huge. I get home after school and open the gifts. She got the rest of the 10" dolls (Mercury, Mars and Jupiter) they are such pretty dolls.

Today I'm still collecting.  I've slowed down on vintage items since I've acquired alot of my dream items recently. I just have about two left to get! With the huge wave of new merch coming out I only collect the items I truly want to have.  I will make a video with my whole collection as I have  about 50% of it remaining in a huge box in my basement and will probably do like a tour if that's something you would all be interested in  There's a lot if memories associated with a lot of the items I do have currently since childhood.

Thank you guys so much! I hope you enjoyed reading this and hopefully you learned a bit more about me through this.

Some have asked  if I have any " Dream items" I hope to get. Thankfully that list has gotten shorter over the years.  Especially recently. Definitely number 1 dream items would have to be the Sailor Moon talking German Doll and Super Sailor Chibimoon 1996 doll.

My list on where to get items!

If your a Canadian Moonie like me there's a Toyshop in Vancouver called Toytards they also have a website. This has been my go too store since 2014 for Sailor Moon items. Their customer service is phenomenal. If there's an item you want and they don't have it on their website or in shop they will actually order it for you. I've ordered all my proplicas from them. The lowest I've ever payed for a proplica was under $100. Their Prices are too bad ether. One thing to note with the shipping within Canada it's not free it's about $14. That's not too bad if you order a few things. They also have like a points system which if you accumulate a certain number of points. Those points can be used to reduce your order total.

Obviously number 1 sites everyone will tell you is ether Ebay or Amazon.
